This is big MWC news, LG have firmly planted their feet in the Windows Mobile camp, telling the world it will be their OS of choice and they will be releasing a total of 50 phones running the Microsoft operating system before 2012, which for you maths fans out there, is 1.5 phones per month starting from March!
One of the first to feature both WinMo and their new S-Class user-interface will be the GM730, a tablet-style touchscreen phone which bears more than a passing resemblance to another touchscreen phone which has proven rather popular. This becomes even more apparent when you examine the S-Class UI, as seen recently on the LG Arena, which uses large icons as short cuts, plus a ‘cube’ effect accessed by a swipe of the finger.
The LG GM730 will use the brand new Windows Mobile 6.5 complete with IE6 and feature, 3G with HSDPA support, a 5 megapixel camera and the latest version 2.1 of Bluetooth, plus the touchscreen is a 3″ WQVGA item. LG have also mentioned something called Chat on the Map, a location-based social network for SMS, email and chat. We are expecting the launch of the GM730 to come before summer this year.

Mighty Toshiba TG01 Officially Announced!
Toshiba may not be a name which springs to mind when considering high-end smartphones, but if it wasn’t before it will be now! At an event in London this week, they unveiled the TG01, a stunning new touchscreen smartphone running Windows Mobile 6.1 and boasting a heavenly display!
It may be specced more like a pocket computer than mobile phone, but the Toshiba TG01 has been made with portability in mind as it has a slightly larger footprint than an iPhone 3G and measures a lithe 9.9mm thick! The screen is a huge 4.1″ and has a resolution of 480×800 - that’s WVGA - and it’s surrounded by a very sleek casing pictured in both a gunmetal-grey and white.
Examining the TG01’s specification is fascinating. It’s the first to use … continue reading "Mighty Toshiba TG01 Officially Announced!"
Firefox Mobile Ready for February Release.
Anticipated for sometime, it looks like Mozilla is ready to start releasing Firefox Mobile. Dubbed Fennec after a long-eared desert fox, the latest browser is said to be making its debut solely on the HTC Touch HD during the first week of February. Obviously the gorgeous screen on the Touch HD will be ideal to show off Fennec, but it is rather unfortunate for the all the other Windows Mobile users desperate to leave Internet Explorer behind.
However, we can’t see this exclusivity lasting for long and no matter whether an adaptation comes from Mozilla or from the kitchen of a keen coder, expect to be installing it on your phone sometime … continue reading "Firefox Mobile Ready for February Release."

PC Style Web Browsing on your Handheld with SkyFire
Non iPhone users will be pleased to hear that they too may soon be able to browse the web on a mobile device as they would on a home computer. The SkyFire browser, already tipped to be one of the most important mobile software releases of the year, supports Flash video, Java and Quicktime, and features a manageable interface to make pages more readable on the small screen. Most importantly though, SkyFire claims that its software offers desktop browsing speeds … continue reading "PC Style Web Browsing on your Handheld with SkyFire"
Samsung Armani M7500 Night Effect Ultimate Review.
Samsung first joined forces with fashion designer Armani back in late 2007 and the result was the beautiful Samsung P520 Armani, a svelte touchscreen handset with a clever interface designed specifically for it. It was a massive success and loved by both techies and fashionistas, but it was eventually overshadowed by the superior Samsung Tocco, which did the phone-side better but lacked the designer branding.
Fast forward to October 2008 and Samsung unveiled their newest collaboration with Armani, the M7500 Night Effect. This time the branding was not simply Armani, but Emporio Armani, their popular range for the younger, fashion conscious person. Since then we’ve had to wait a while until the M7500 was ready for … continue reading "Samsung Armani M7500 Night Effect Ultimate Review."
The Ultimate Google G1 Review
As soon as Google announced the development of the Android mobile phone platform way back in 2007, people began eagerly anticipating the release of the new phones that would be created. The early versions of these phones are finally starting to be released to the market; the first one to come out is the T-Mobile G1. Dubbed the HTC Dream during its development, the T-Mobile G1 has been anxiously eyed by everyone who wants to know how much a Google phone platform could possibly shake up the mobile phone world. The G1 brings together the best Google software programs (like Gmail and Google Maps) with innovative third-party software options (available through the Android Marketplace) to give you a phone that can do the things that you want it to do, whatever those things may be. It’s an early version of the … continue reading "The Ultimate Google G1 Review"
LG Hero KU580
LG are launching yet another phone with a snappy name that doesn’t really fit with an electrical product… but still sounds pretty cool. Welcome to the LG Hero!
Actually there’s a bit of confusion as to its name, some people are describing it as another follow up to the Chocolate, bearing as it does more than a passing resemblence to the latter with its red touch-sensitive navigational backlights (see pictures below), but the Hero it is, and the KU580 to give it its full model number.
The most notable feature is the landscape screen, that makes it look a bit like a smartphone, but other than being 3G it’s pretty much on a par with the LG Chocolate Platinum or the LG Shine. It has a 240 x 320 pixel display with 256K colours, a 2 megapixel camera with a VGA for video calling, a web browser, FM radio and an MP3 player.
On first glance you have to say it looks like it could do with losing a bit of weight, but you’d be wrong! It’s actually extraordinarily light - a mere 73 grams, that’s 40% lighter than the Shine!
Just one thing, is it me, or is it a slightly fatter version of the Samsung U600? Either way they’re both pretty good looking phones.

The Nokia 6120 Classic - What a package!
Ok, on first glance the Nokia 6120 Classic doesn’t exactly make you go weak at the knees, but look beneath the surface and this is actually quite a remarkable little phone.
For a start it is equipped with the latest HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) which means it can download songs and videos at up to 3.6 Mbps. To put this in perspective, the first Nokia phone to be released with HSDPA was the N95, which is a staggeringly well equipped handset.
It is a 3G phone with a decent 2″ display in 16 million colours, has a respectable two megapixel camera on the front, and a second camera on the front for making video calls. It runs on the Symbian S60 operating system which means that you can add your own applications to it.
What is truly impressive about this phone is the sheer amount is packs into a meer 89 grams (lighter than any other Nokia phone we’re selling at the moment), at a very reasonable £160 before tax and subsidy. A phone to bring high speed downloading to the masses!
Mobile Gazette, the marathon phone reviewers have called this Nokia’s best phone ever, and they see a lot of phones!
It should be with us in the next couple of months and you can expect it to be positioned somewhere alongside the current Nokia 6300.

Top 10 Most Expensive Mobile Phones in the World
Until recently, the vast majority of mobile phones had been priced between £100 and £300, with only Vertu, a division of Nokia, manufacturing uber-premium phones. With prices starting at around £4,000 Vertu phones are only for the filthy rich, and the super famous.
However, Vertu’s monopoly of the luxury phone market is coming to an end with the launch of several new luxury mobile makers, including Gresso, Mobiado and GoldVish. Other mobile phone manufacturers are also partnering with luxury brands to produce a range of premium mobile phones, such as LG and Prada, D&G and Motorola, and now Tag Heuer and Modelabs. Finally, there are the ridiculous, super-expensive one-offs, made purely for headline grabbing, such as Goldvish’s “Le million”, worth a cool $1,000,000, see below for details!
1. Goldvish “Le million” = $1,000,000 (£540,540)
3. Sony Ericsson Black Diamond = $300,000 (£162,162)
Apparently the Black Diamond will be available in 2007, not from Sony Ericsson but by a company called VIPN. Initially only 5 unique numered pieces will be available for the unbelievable price of, wait for it… $300,000.
With regards to the specifications, don’t expect anything remarkable for your money. It will have Quad-band with Wi-Fi, an Intel 400Mhz processor running windows mobile 5, and a touch sensitive 2″ screen. It will also include internal memory of 128mb and will come with a 2Gb SD card for external storage, plus a respectable 4 Megapixel camera.
The designer Jaren Goh has used some pretty impressive materials for the build, featuring titane with polycarbonate, mirror-finish cladding and diamonds.

4. Vertu Diamond = $88,000 (£47,567)
The Diamond is Vertu’s premium range of high-end mobile phones. As the name suggests the handsets in the Diamond range are diamond-encrusted handsets made from platinum. Only 200 of the handsets are being produced, the most expensive believed to be worth an estimated £50,000.
5. Motorola V220 Special Edition = £28,000 ($51,800)
Austrian designer Peter Aloisson, has taken a standard Motorola, studded it with 1,200 diamonds and added a keyboard inlaid with 18 carat gold. The outcome is a £28,000 handset, suitable only for footballers and film stars!
Source
6. Gold Edition Nokia 8800 Phone = $2,700 (£1,459)
If you have $2,700 to spare, you can now buy the Nokia 8800 in 24K gold. However, be warned, if you think you’ll be getting a better phone for your extra cash, you wont! The features found on the Gold Edition are the standard 8800 features, which are pretty basic. It includes a 0.5 Mega pixel SVGA camera, 64 MB of internal memory, 64 voice polyphonic rigntones, FM Radio, Mp3 Player, video recording and 180 mins talktime. However, the Gold Edition does includes a special edition box and charging dock!

7. Mobiado Professional EM (wood) = $1,900 (£1,027)
The Mobiado Professional EM, is a wood-clad upgrade of their earlier Nokia-based phone that includes a 1.3 megapixel camera, music player, FM radio, Bluetooth, and according to Mobiado it’s the first production phone with Titanium buttons. Only 200 are being made and each one has its limited number engraved on the back. At $1,900 however, you’re still paying an awfully high premium for a fairly basic phone encased in wood!
Source
8. Bang & Olufsen (Samsung) Serene = $1,250 (£675)
Bang & Olufsen hooked up with Samsung to design the sleek but unconventional Serene. Its not a bad looking phone and it even has a built-in motor to assist you in opening and closing the phone. It’s not very practical however, requiring a special screwdriver to access the battery and the SIM card, and its circular keypad will take some getting used to. Also, for some strange reason they have positioned the camera lens on the side of the device, which will make it difficult to align snapshots via the viewfinder on the display.

9. Lamborghini 8800 Sirocco from Nokia = $To be announced
The Lamborghini Nokia 8800 Sirocco is another special edition, like the previously launch Aston Martin branded Sirocco. It will ultimately be a standard 8800 Sirocco but with the addition of the famous Lamborghini logo engraved on the font and the back, plus ball bearings from the auto company to in the slider phone mechanism. The Lamborghini phone will be a limited edition with only 500 being made. It will also feature Lamborghini graphics as wallpapers, screensavers, ringtones, and even has a short documentary video about the Lamborghini.

10. Gresso Luxury Phone = £expensive
The Russia based Gresso, is a new entry into the luxury phone market. Their aptly name “Gresso Luxury Phone” is made of gold and African Blackwood. Apparently they will be releasing a collection of five models called the Black Aura collection, and the designer is a “well known” Italian designer. Currently there are two versions of the African Blackwood phone, one with pink gold highlights named the Gresso Blackwood Gold Edition, and one made entirely of African Blackwood. In addition to the two African Blackwood phones Gresso also make a phones made entirely of pink gold named the Gresso Gold phone. Initially, the phones will be on sale only in Russia.

1. Goldvish “Le million” = $1,000,000 (£540,540)
A PR stunt it may be, and they surely can’t be expecting to sell any, but the Goldvish “Le million” is officially the most expensive mobile phone in the world, according the Guiness Books of Records. There’s even been talk of a $1.3million phone, but this has fewer diamonds than the Goldvish so I can’t see where the extra expense comes from! The “Le million” is a one off, featuring a blinding 120 carats worth of VVS-1 grade diamonds, according to designer Emmanuel Gueit. If $1 million is out of your price range. the Geneva-based Goldvish also offer several other diamond-encrusted 18k gold models in your choice of rose, yellow, or white, starting at a much more reasonable $25,600 (£13,837).

It's a slim one though, at 12.5mm, plus the 92 gram weight makes this a very pocket-friendly camera phone. Flip the phone over and things get more interesting, as the camera lens is hidden behind a brushed metallic cover which slides to one side. Not only is this very practical, but it gives the C510 a really smooth, modern look.As the C510 wears a CyberShot badge, it has all the toys to make the camera something really special, despite the fact it won't break the bank to purchase. The 3.2 megapixel camera lens may not sound impressive these days, but the truth is, it takes brilliant pictures at a resolution of 2048x1536 and easily holds its own against the Nokia 5800 and the Samsung U600, each of which feature a similar camera. The C510 edges ahead with features such as face and smile recognition, Photo Fix – where you can alter the brightness, contrast and light balance without transferring your snaps to a PC – plus the usual autofocus and LED flash for the best possible pictures.

Height 107 mm
Width 47 mm

We were first introduced to the C510 at the tail end of 2008, under the codename of Kate, before a better set of leaked pictures came online at the beginning of January 2009. Now it's set for release, we have the final specs and a complete overview of this new CyberShot camera phone and it's looking like a great buy for anyone wanting a competent, stylish mid-range mobile!
Why You Should Buy the C510
3.2 megapixel camera with an LED flash and 30fps QVGA video shooting.
Watch YouTube video on a dedicated client.
The C510 is a 3G mobile phone with HSDPA support and A2DP Bluetooth.
Built-in accelerometer provides automatic screen rotation and motion sensitive gaming.
Increase media storage with a Memory Stick M2.
The Sony Ericsson C510 is a very competitively priced handset, with an emphasis on fun over more serious photography. The mobile is a traditional Sony Ericsson candybar design, available in Radiation Silver and Future Black, and the faceplate will offer no design surprises to anyone familiar with the company's past work. It's a slim one though, at 12.5mm, plus the 92 gram weight makes this a very pocket-friendly camera phone. Flip the phone over and things get more interesting, as the camera lens is hidden behind a brushed metallic cover which slides to one side. The C510 will run the latest version of Sony Ericsson's feature phone software, so you'll benefit from a built-in YouTube client for watching video on the move, plus handy features not usually found on a mid-range phone such as threaded SMS conversations. With the 3G HSDPA connection web browsing will be quick and the Access NetFront browser is a great online companion. There's an FM RDS radio and a music player, plus the phone supports cell-based location ID which provides a geo-tagging experience without GPS.
Summary of the Sony Ericsson C510
The Sony Ericsson C510 is a delightfully simple mobile phone, it does everything one could want from a modern handset – 3G/HSDPA, music and media, a great camera, high call quality – all wrapped up in a stylish, cleanly designed casing. Best of all is the reasonable price; the C510 won't be a phone which will have to be admired from afar thanks to a prohibitively expensive price tag! While we appreciate the phone won't be winning many innovation awards, it does fit the phrase 'if it's not broken, don't fix it' perfectly, as the tried and tested Sony Ericsson CyberShot formula just keeps getting better!

Sony Ericsson G502 Black
Phone typeCandy bar
Height103 mm
Width46 mm
Depth13.5 mm
Weight83.5 grams
The Sony Ericsson G502 is a remarkable phone, mainly because it's aimed squarely at the lower-price market and yet still packs in an impressive set of features including a very capable web browser, making it great value for money.
Sony Ericsson's 'G' series is designed to give a great Internet experience, and the G502 does not disappoint. 3.5G technology (and EDGE where a 3G signal is not available) give super-fast Internet speeds, and despite the slightly small 2" screen the slick browser makes surfing the mobile web a smooth and swift experience.
The Sony Ericsson G502 also comes with an FM radio with RDS, a comfortable keypad that's easy for texting and emailing, plus a media centre that can be expanded with an M2 memory card, and supports file transfers with Bluetooth and USB. The G502 also features a 2 megapixel camera, although there is no video calling support.
The Sony Ericsson G502 defines itself as an easily affordable Internet phone, yet still manages to fit in a good media centre and some all-important connectivity options. This is a very good choice for anyone who wants more from their mobile phone without having to pay a huge price tag, and the seamless web integration is something no-one can refuse.

We knew the W705 as the Rika when it was leaked onto the Internet back in September 2008 where it was instantly dismissed as a Walkman version of the uninspiring G705 GPS mobile. Now we have the official announcement out of the way - it was the final Sony Ericsson to be unveiled in 2008 - and the release date is upon us, we can see this initial reaction sold the W705 short, as it's a little more than a G705 in a pretty dress!
