We knew the W705 as the Rika when it was leaked onto the Internet back in September 2008 where it was instantly dismissed as a Walkman version of the uninspiring G705 GPS mobile. Now we have the official announcement out of the way - it was the final Sony Ericsson to be unveiled in 2008 - and the release date is upon us, we can see this initial reaction sold the W705 short, as it's a little more than a G705 in a pretty dress!
First, existing Windows Mobile users with phones running 128MB of RAM and a hefty 400Mhz processor will theoretically be able to upgrade to the new version, however it’ll be down to your phone’s manufacturer to make it happen.

Secondly, more than 25 companies are expected to announce their involvement with 6.5 and the new Windows Marketplace application store at the CTIA Wireless show in Las Vegas, which runs over the first three days of April. These are said to include Facebook, MySpace, SlingMedia and EA Mobile. Microsoft have also announced there will be a 24-hour trial period for newly purchased applications, so users will simply be able to return the app if they don’t like it.

Although hardly a first for mobile phones, Microsoft have also recruited the Design Museum London and the Council of Fashion Designers of America to design unique themes for the new operating system, plus a Theme Generator will be available after the launch where one can change colours and make use of your own pictures as wallpaper.
All this and more is expected to be covered in detail this Thursday during CTIA, when Robbie Bach, President of Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft, takes to the stage. We’re getting more and more interested in 6.5’s development and are pleased it appears Microsoft are embracing the consumer side of their smartphone OS this time around.BABERhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05747943666432526674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1832000165247745104.post-43444452065899081962009-06-07T04:39:00.000-07:002009-06-07T04:40:09.505-07:00Sony Ericsson C905 Pink

Phone type Slider
Height 104 mm
Width 49 mm

Depth 18 mm
Weight 136 grams
Overview
The Sony Ericsson C905 is a slider mobile phone which when closed could be easily mistaken for a regular point-and-shoot camera, it's only when you pop the slider to reveal the keypad that the illusion is broken and the C905 becomes a phone. However, looking like a camera isn't any good if you don't have the tech to back it up, but the C905 has no problem here as it's a massive 8 megapixel Cybershot model!

Features at a Glance
The huge 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and plenty of software enhancements!
Built-in Assisted GPS with geo-tagging feature.
It's a 3G phone with HSDPA and Wi-Fi for the fastest connections.
Multimedia features include music, video and an FM RDS radio.
160MB of internal memory plus a 2GB Memory Stick Micro.
Why You Should Buy the C905.
The C905 is a thing of beauty with the slider closed, with the softly rounded edges for a comfortable grip, chrome highlights surround the sides where a selection of buttons for controlling the camera are found and the body has a soft-touch coating emphasizing the C905's high level of build quality. As you hold the phone like you would a camera, the capture button and zoom rocker fall naturally under your fingers and the screen, a 2.4" 240x320 TFT item, does a great job as the viewfinder. If you are wanting a phone which feels exactly like a camera, the C905 won't disappoint.

The 8.1 megapixel lens takes fantastic pictures, full of vibrant colour and detail and just like other CyberShot phones, there is a wealth of software to assist in this process. Naturally it has autofocus and the C905 also has a xenon flash for real low light shooting ability, face detection, red eye reduction and smart contrast too. When you activate the camera, there are several dedicated keys on the face of the phone which illuminate to allow control over your picture; these are located around the D-pad and to the side of the screen, providing a great solution to the issue of digging about inside a menu when all you want to do is take the picture!

The Sony Ericsson C905 is their flagship CyberShot model and it's loaded with features in addition to the brilliant camera. The 3G phone has HSDPA support for fast data speeds while out and about, plus Wi-Fi if you're near a wireless hotspot, giving plenty of opportunity to use the first class web browser installed on the C905. We love its intuitive scrolling and very handy zoom features, so much so we wish the phone had a bigger screen to display it on! A GPS receiver is built-in and comes with both Google Maps and a trial version of Wayfinder Navigator installed. You can also geo-tag your pictures too.

Finally, the music and video player are similar to those found on a Sony Ericsson Walkman phone without a few of the enhancements, but retaining the excellent sound and picture quality, plus there is an FM RDS radio and a wealth of organisaiton tools.

Summary of the Sony Ericsson C905
It may not be the smallest or lightest phone available, but the C905 is easily the most camera-like of the current crop of 8 megapixel camera phones. Picture quality is also fantastic, it has almost every essential top range feature and good looks too! Finish the package off with decent connectivity options and the excellent NetFront browser and the C905 emerges as one of the most complete mobile solutions available.

Features
8.1 megapixel camera with Cyber-shot technology
Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate
Built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS function
3G (HSPDA), EDGE, GPRS and Wi-Fi technology
160MB internal memory
Memory Stick Micro (M2) card slot for expandable memory
WAP 2.0/HTML (NetFront), RSS reader
FM radio with RDS
Quad band
TV-Out
Dimensions: 104 x 49 x 18-19.5 mm
Weight: 136 grams
Standby Time: Up to 380hrs
Talk Time: Up to 9hrs

BABERhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05747943666432526674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1832000165247745104.post-60470899940423281882009-06-07T04:38:00.001-07:002009-06-07T04:39:16.900-07:00Sony Ericsson K770i Pink

Phone typeCandy bar
Height105 mm
Width47 mm
Depth14.5 mm
Weight95 grams Sony Ericsson's latest addition to their K series is the slim K770i. This becomes even more apparent when you examine the S-Class UI, as seen recently on the LG Arena, which uses large icons as short cuts, plus a ‘cube’ effect accessed by a swipe of the finger.

The LG GM730 will use the brand new Windows Mobile 6.5 complete with IE6 and feature, 3G with HSDPA support, a 5 megapixel camera and the latest version 2.1 of Bluetooth, plus the touchscreen is a 3″ WQVGA item. LG have also mentioned something called Chat on the Map, a location-based social network for SMS, email and chat. We are expecting the launch of the GM730 to come before summer this year.BABERhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05747943666432526674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1832000165247745104.post-61725066008590487232009-04-10T08:27:00.000-07:002009-04-10T08:39:51.978-07:00Mighty Toshiba TG01 Officially Announced!
Toshiba may not be a name which springs to mind when considering high-end smartphones, but if it wasn’t before it will be now! At an event in London this week, they unveiled the TG01, a stunning new touchscreen smartphone running Windows Mobile 6.1 and boasting a heavenly display!

It may be specced more like a pocket computer than mobile phone, but the Toshiba TG01 has been made with portability in mind as it has a slightly larger footprint than an iPhone 3G and measures a lithe 9.9mm thick! The early versions of these phones are finally starting to be released to the market; the first one to come out is the T-Mobile G1. Dubbed the HTC Dream during its development, the T-Mobile G1 has been anxiously eyed by everyone who wants to know how much a Google phone platform could possibly shake up the mobile phone world. The G1 brings together the best Google software programs (like Gmail and Google Maps) with innovative third-party software options (available through the Android Marketplace) to give you a phone that can do the things that you want it to do, whatever those things may be. It’s an early version of the … continue reading "The Ultimate Google G1 Review"BABERhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05747943666432526674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1832000165247745104.post-40789682871430250162009-04-10T08:12:00.001-07:002009-04-10T08:34:35.790-07:00LG Hero KU580LG are launching yet another phone with a snappy name that doesn’t really fit with an electrical product… but still sounds pretty cool. Welcome to the LG Hero!

Actually there’s a bit of confusion as to its name, some people are describing it as another follow up to the Chocolate, bearing as it does more than a passing resemblence to the latter with its red touch-sensitive navigational backlights (see pictures below), but the Hero it is, and the KU580 to give it its full model number.

The most notable feature is the landscape screen, that makes it look a bit like a smartphone, but other than being 3G it’s pretty much on a par with the LG Chocolate Platinum or the LG Shine. It has a 240 x 320 pixel display with 256K colours, a 2 megapixel camera with a VGA for video calling, a web browser, FM radio and an MP3 player.

On first glance you have to say it looks like it could do with losing a bit of weight, but you’d be wrong! To put this in perspective, the first Nokia phone to be released with HSDPA was the N95, which is a staggeringly well equipped handset.

It is a 3G phone with a decent 2″ display in 16 million colours, has a respectable two megapixel camera on the front, and a second camera on the front for making video calls. It runs on the Symbian S60 operating system which means that you can add your own applications to it.

What is truly impressive about this phone is the sheer amount is packs into a meer 89 grams (lighter than any other Nokia phone we’re selling at the moment), at a very reasonable £160 before tax and subsidy. A phone to bring high speed downloading to the masses!

Mobile Gazette, the marathon phone reviewers have called this Nokia’s best phone ever, and they see a lot of phones!

It should be with us in the next couple of months and you can expect it to be positioned somewhere alongside the current Nokia 6300.

BABERhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05747943666432526674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1832000165247745104.post-10770430190759273332009-04-10T07:58:00.000-07:002009-04-10T09:14:34.271-07:00Top 10 Most Expensive Mobile Phones in the WorldUntil recently, the vast majority of mobile phones had been priced between £100 and £300, with only Vertu, a division of Nokia, manufacturing uber-premium phones. With prices starting at around £4,000 Vertu phones are only for the filthy rich, and the super famous.

However, Vertu’s monopoly of the luxury phone market is coming to an end with the launch of several new luxury mobile makers, including Gresso, Mobiado and GoldVish. Other mobile phone manufacturers are also partnering with luxury brands to produce a range of premium mobile phones, such as LG and Prada, D&G and Motorola, and now Tag Heuer and Modelabs. Finally, there are the ridiculous, super-expensive one-offs, made purely for headline grabbing, such as Goldvish’s “Le million”, worth a cool $1,000,000, see below for details!

1. It's a slim one though, at 12.5mm, plus the 92 gram weight makes this a very pocket-friendly camera phone. Flip the phone over and things get more interesting, as the camera lens is hidden behind a brushed metallic cover which slides to one side. Not only is this very practical, but it gives the C510 a really smooth, modern look.As the C510 wears a CyberShot badge, it has all the toys to make the camera something really special, despite the fact it won't break the bank to purchase. The 3.2 megapixel camera lens may not sound impressive these days, but the truth is, it takes brilliant pictures at a resolution of 2048x1536 and easily holds its own against the Nokia 5800 and the Samsung U600, each of which feature a similar camera. The C510 edges ahead with features such as face and smile recognition, Photo Fix – where you can alter the brightness, contrast and light balance without transferring your snaps to a PC – plus the usual autofocus and LED flash for the best possible pictures.

3.2 Megapixel Camera
Face, smile detection, geo-tagging
Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate
3G (HSDPA), EDGE, GPRS, and HSCSD
MP3 player
FM radio with RDS
WAP 2.0/HTML (NetFront), RSS reader
Memory Stick Micro (M2) card slot for expandable memory
Messaging: SMS, MMS, Email, Instant Messaging
Dimensions: 107 x 47 x 12.5 mm
Weight: 92 grams
Standby Time: Up to 400hrs
Talk Time: Up to 10hrs

BABERhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05747943666432526674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1832000165247745104.post-8790442910646345452009-04-10T07:43:00.000-07:002009-04-10T10:24:34.212-07:00Sony Ericsson C510

Phone type Candy bar
Height 107 mm
Width 47 mm
Depth 12.5 mm
Weight 92 grams

We were first introduced to the C510 at the tail end of 2008, under the codename of Kate, before a better set of leaked pictures came online at the beginning of January 2009. Now it's set for release, we have the final specs and a complete overview of this new CyberShot camera phone and it's looking like a great buy for anyone wanting a competent, stylish mid-range mobile!

Why You Should Buy the C510
3.2 megapixel camera with an LED flash and 30fps QVGA video shooting.
Watch YouTube video on a dedicated client.
The C510 is a 3G mobile phone with HSDPA support and A2DP Bluetooth.
Built-in accelerometer provides automatic screen rotation and motion sensitive gaming.
Increase media storage with a Memory Stick M2.
The Sony Ericsson C510 is a very competitively priced handset, with an emphasis on fun over more serious photography. The mobile is a traditional Sony Ericsson candybar design, available in Radiation Silver and Future Black, and the faceplate will offer no design surprises to anyone familiar with the company's past work. It's a slim one though, at 12.5mm, plus the 92 gram weight makes this a very pocket-friendly camera phone. Flip the phone over and things get more interesting, as the camera lens is hidden behind a brushed metallic cover which slides to one side. Not only is this very practical, but it gives the C510 a really smooth, modern look.

As the C510 wears a CyberShot badge, it has all the toys to make the camera something really special, despite the fact it won't break the bank to purchase. With the 3G HSDPA connection web browsing will be quick and the Access NetFront browser is a great online companion. There's an FM RDS radio and a music player, plus the phone supports cell-based location ID which provides a geo-tagging experience without GPS.

Summary of the Sony Ericsson C510
The Sony Ericsson C510 is a delightfully simple mobile phone, it does everything one could want from a modern handset – 3G/HSDPA, music and media, a great camera, high call quality – all wrapped up in a stylish, cleanly designed casing. Best of all is the reasonable price; the C510 won't be a phone which will have to be admired from afar thanks to a prohibitively expensive price tag! While we appreciate the phone won't be winning many innovation awards, it does fit the phrase 'if it's not broken, don't fix it' perfectly, as the tried and tested Sony Ericsson CyberShot formula just keeps getting better!

3.2 Megapixel Camera
Face, smile detection, geo-tagging
Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate
3G (HSDPA), EDGE, GPRS, and HSCSD
MP3 player
FM radio with RDS
WAP 2.0/HTML (NetFront), RSS reader
Memory Stick Micro (M2) card slot for expandable memory
Messaging: SMS, MMS, Email, Instant Messaging
Dimensions: 107 x 47 x 12.5 mm
Weight: 92 grams
Standby Time: Up to 400hrs
Talk Time: Up to 10hrs

BABERhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05747943666432526674noreply@blogger.com0
